Special Report: Is Zimbabwe losing hope in their President?

Zimbabwe’s capital Harare has seen violent protests after the President Emmerson Mnangagwa – nicknamed The Crocodile – announced fuel prices would more than double.

The Zimbabwe government also blocked access to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter and the messaging service WhatsApp.

The MDC (Movement for Democratic Change) says Mr Mnangagwa, a former Mugabe ally, is now overseeing a return to authoritarian rule by using the same tactics.

  1. Country has turned into a dump since it got rid of their minority rule, south africa will follow suit when the whites get driven out of there too, real refugees!

  2. We never had even a fraction of hope in him coz we knew he was a murderer. Please get the facts right zimbabwe never voted for Mnangangwa he was made president by Chigumba and Malamba

  3. Dear Sky. The clip of the guy being removed from his and screaming that he came for breakfast is from an incident during the MUGABE era when they were protesting then Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko living in a five star hotel at taxpayer’s expense. It is not related to this current crackdown and should not be presented as such. Local propagandists use such innacuracies to discredit your reporting.

  4. Too much corruption, no reasonable government will invest in a country/ruling government full of corruption. Once the corruption has gone, and human rights have returned that’s when they can start worrying about building the economy.

  5. They never had any hope. ever since the dictators took power, only hope left is an unlike international super powers that do not seem to care about the plight of Africans anymore.

  6. "CORRUPTION" IS THE "CANCER" OF THE "WORLD"; THAT’ S "WHY" IT’S "WRIT" IN THE "HOLY BOOK" : 1 "CORINTHIANS" 15 : 53 + 54 …FOR THIS "CORRUPTIBLE" MUST "PUT" ON "INCORRUPTION", AND THIS "MORTA"L MUST "PUT" ON "IMMORTALITY" . SO "WHEN" THIS "CORRUPTIBLE" SHALL "HAVE PUT" ON "INCORRUPTION", AND HIS "MORTAL" SHALL "HAVE PUT" ON "IMMORTALITY", "THEN" SHALL "BE BROUGHT" TO "PASS BE BROUGHT" TO "PASS" THE "SAYING" THAT IS "WRITTEN", "DEATH" IS "SWALLOWED" UP IN "VICTORY" . .."ALL" THE "GLORY" IS IN THE "LORD" OF "SPIRITS" ! "J+CHRIST.C"

  7. There is not one successful Black majority and governed state on earth. No money or aid can help Africa, the problem is that the average [50%]of the black population has an IQ of 70 or less, this is one point above mental retardation.

  8. The racist treatment of white farmers by ZANU PF led to the food shortages which are part of the current problems in Zimbabwe. Their racism also led to sanctions being imposed on Zimbabwe by Western nations opposed to racism.

  9. *UK LOSING HOPE IN ITS DEMOCRACY AND PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM?*
They call it bribery in Asia & Africa. In Europe & America, we call it donation and lobbying, or even foundation or institute sometimes! 🙂

  10. Losing hope? They should never have had any, this guy was part of the Mugabe regime, therefore he was not the solution, he is and will remain part the of the problem.

  11. Zimbabwe won’t move forward when the robotic president mnanagwa and his robotic controller chiwengwa still in charge..
Nothing is going to change people, the only solution its do or die we been robbed our lives, future…

  12. Fellow citizens stop or minimize use of eco cash and money transfer to stop giving the government 2 percent which is used to but bullets. Enough is Enough

  13. Dai muchimutakura nengoro kuenda kunyika dzanoenda idzodzo coz mukatomuisa mundege haone kutambura kwedu

  14. We never had faith in Him its not that we losing any Faith or hope but we never believed in this clueless old man good for nothing Corruption puppet

  15. Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in Africa was doing just fine (rich, prosperous, breadbasket of Africa) with the white race doing the planning and administration that it seems to do so well – but, nope, can’t have that race doing that, so the West forced out Ian Smith as leader and replaced the Zimbabwean white race, that was in charge of the planning, adminstration and government, with blacks. Now Zimbabwe is a starving basket case. I suspect any of the formerly well fed, now famine ridden Zimbabweans, of any race, would love to have competent, honest (white) government again.
"It may be politically correct – but I’m starving."

  16. It’s ironic for such educated people to be lead by such unqualified ministers and government officials. Unfortunately corruption trumps education

  17. The west can’t keep ploughing money into Africa when this money is not seen to improved people’s lives, it’s clearly going straight into governments pockets, no companies will be prepared to invest in a country with such internal problems, what happened to all the mining and tobacco exports surely that must be generating money for Zim, they need to give the 80% unemployed jobs digging the valuable metals and diamonds out of their soil instead of sticking their hand out to the rest of the world for money, make your own….

  18. Totally we have to lose a hope …. wat type of a government can beat n killed their own pple…. no no that’s painful

  19. There was NO gonna be NEW DAWN in Zimbabwe.
The Western World cares for its own looting. They never cared for principles of democracy. As long as these killers were going to be pro-EU then that’s it..

  20. The solution is to rid the country of the Rhodesian settler group. They will never recognize majority rule, only see Africans as inferior and themselves as masters. They will never recognize any government as legitimate only themselves.
