The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor is a heritage area that covers 12,000 square miles of coastline from North Carolina to Florida. The Gullah Geechee people are descendants of Africans who were brought to the United States for the plantations in the south as slaves from mainly the West African region. Over the years, the community created their own unique culture which can still be seen even today.
