SA's MTN and Shoprite close stores in Nigeria

South African businesses MTN and Shoprite have closed stores in Nigeria after their facilities came under attack.

That’s after days of riots in South Africa targeting foreign-owned businesses.

MTN in Nigeria says it’ll shut all stores and service centres in the country until further notice.

  1. its funny how the media ignore discussing about unlicensed guns and hijacking of buildings by foreigners, worse part the foreign criminals that were wanted fought with the police and one drug dealer killed a taxi driver for speaking against dealing drugs at the rank, thats when some south africans got angry lol but no one wants to discus the matter for what its truly is.so its ok to take advantage of SA , seems like the foreigners are above the law now

  2. Nigerians are everywhere and they are causing problems. USA-Nigeria visa problem, Drug busts in Saudi Arabia, stealing money from pansioners in USA and they are known drug king pins in SA. Just look at Hilbrow and Durban south beach. They are the one’s who started this whole thing, remember when they were fighting with SA police in hilbrow? They shot and killed a taxi driver in pretoria, what were they expecting.

  3. My lovely brothers and sisters of all Africans living in south Africa, you have every right to demonstrate on what is happening in South Africa! The current president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa is a worse for drink who failed to govern South Africans, yobs and clumsy bunch of arsehole go on looting rampage, vandalised foreigners properties. What a shame no governance and rule of law in South Africa.

  4. WHAT PIETER BOTHA SAID DURING APARTHEID ABOUT BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS, IS AN IMPORTANT FLASH POINT TODAY…

"We do not pretend like other Whites that we like Blacks. The fact that, Blacks look like human beings and act like human beings does not necessarily make them sensible human beings. Hedgehogs are not porcupines and lizards are not crocodiles simply because they look alike. If God wanted us to be equal to the Blacks, he would have created us all of a uniform colour and intellect. But he created us differently: Whites, Blacks, Yellow, Rulers and the ruled. Intellectually, we are superior to the Blacks; that has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt over the years. I believe that the Afrikaner is an honest, God fearing person, who has demonstrated practically the right way of being.
…The strength of our economy is backed by America, Britain, Germany. It is our strong conviction, therefore, that the Black is the raw material for the White man. So Brothers and Sisters, let us join hands together to fight against this Black devil. I appeal to all Afrikaners to come out with any creative means of fighting this war. Surely God cannot forsake his own people whom we are.
By now every one of us has seen it practically that the Blacks cannot rule themselves. Give them guns and they will kill each other. They are good in nothing else but making noise, dancing, marrying many wives and indulging in_sex. Let us all accept that the Black man is the symbol of poverty, mental inferiority, laziness and emotional incompetence.
Isn’t it plausible? therefore that the White man is created to rule the Black man? Come to think of what would happen one day if you woke up and on the throne sat a Black man! Does anyone of you believe that the Blacks can rule this country?"
    – P. BOTHA, 1985.
    (APARTHEID PRESIDENT, SOUTH AFRICA)

  5. Yes, they must come back. There are areas in South Africa that are desperately in need of those services. No action must be taken by SA President. Take care of your nationals. We are also poor. Get tired if you want. We cannot support the whole Africa. We are not different from you. We are poor. We cannot share poverty. Each president must ensure creation of jobs for its people. Don’t push the blame to next door. You pay taxes in your countries. The situation will never improve unless you learn to put the blame to your governments. We are also blaming our president, not a Zambian President or Nigerian for internal problems. Wake up. South Africans will do it again until you realise that you need to share responsibility. Shouting in the streets about South Africa won’t help you. South Africans are poor.

  6. So nigerians do know how to protest? I was wondering, because they remained docile whilst their girls were kidnapped, their electricity is off, no roads, no schools, no hospitals, and their dictatorship president has made no jobs so thats why you flee to south africa. Start dealing with your problems at home first. Look in the mirror.

  7. I learnt they killed one rich Igbo Nigerian boy called Emeka Xenophobia. Nigeria are not happy. wetin dey happen. Abeg abeg make una stop killing ooo.

  8. Why All this African Countries Forcing & Crying to come to South Africa is not your Country guys please stay in your own countries Not Mzansi…Raise Xenophobia Raise✊✊✊✊✊

  9. Nigeria alone has thousands or Millions of Foreigners from our Neighboring Africans countries, from Ghana, Benin, Niger, Cameroon, Senegal etc.. majority of them without legal papers
But we see them all as our friends.. they are our Colleague’s at work, in Schools, in fact we even watch football together.. sometimes we make jest of each other.. and we are very much Happy with them..

Despite our population we don’t care of illegal immigrants.. if fact we are too busy to worry about them.. we see them all as our own.. South Africans wat if you have the kind of our population wat would now be saying????

  10. South Africa should stay out of Nigeria, we don’t want evils people in our country and business again because they were evil and more also they should be banned in every where in the Africa .

  11. If we only got rid of corrupt politicians and public workers with the same enthusiasm , we would be a much better place.

  12. Black man mentality is what has kept us where we are, looking like primitive people that are easily manipulated, fighting themselves instead of settling it as civilized humans through dialogue, that’s why we are less respected among other races and we keep on blaming them for racism meanwhile we are the ones who reduce ourselves to that level, through senseless violence because of greed and other small manipulations

  13. Wait a minute,Lets talk about baby factory in Delta,Nigeria.absolutely no one is talking about it.South Africans are protecting themselves.believe it or not.

  14. Effing South Africa…I will never go there again. They say it’s a few rotten elements?….yeah right…this has been going on for a WHILE. The damage will cost them a lot….they will find out. Image is very important in the social media age we live in now. You all shot yourself in the foot- this is the first thing many will remember when they hear south africa going forward.Wait and see…

  15. I understand the pain that people feel when they retaliate, but that just turns you into what you hated in the first place. The South Africans doing business abroad in Nigeria and other countries are just innocent victims like the foreigners attacked in SA. Just stop the violence, if you must protest maybe you could use peaceful means like a boycott of products rather than burn, loot and injure fellow Africans. Those doing so in SA are a minority population who are just ignorant, no need to turn into one of them. Africa will never rise to the world stage if we keep dividing at every single opportunity we get. Keep trading with each other and help out fellow brothers and sisters who are stranded in SA to get out. Life is worth more than few coins in the pocket. There are other opportunities in the rest of Africa.

  16. This was all started by the Nigerians when they get arrested with their stolen goods or drugs. Then they attack South Africans in the CBD’s day and night. When our people retaliate against the illegal criminals, the rest of Africa is "Tired/Offended and whatthefcknot". Don’t cry if ZA locals beat your criminals. Come take them so they can sell their coke in their own country again!

  17. You all should go and listen to marvelous Lucky Dube’s song titled "Liquor slave" again. Then, you will know you these SAs (a.k.a south animals) have an intractably pervasive long history with drug addiction! #9ja no dey carry last!

  18. If South Africa was that Bad, why the free air planes waiting to fly to Nigeria still empty at OR Tambo? And how many Nigerian brothers have been killed? There’s none. Its just that our Nigerian brothers don’t respect us.

  19. I learnt they killed one rich Igbo Nigerian boy called Emeka Xenophobia. Nigeria are not happy. wetin dey happen. Abeg abeg make una stop killing ooo.

  20. Nigeria is a great country so blessed with natural resources the problem is corrupt politicians and leaders.

  21. SA stop blaming Nigerians u r a country full of crime, even if u chase all the so called foreign drug dealers u still hv ur local dealers lots of them for that matter, ur country will never know peace, u kill ur own pple, was lucky dube killed by Nigerians? How about senzo meyiwa, dumi masilela? too numerous to mention… In short, u r a cursed nation 😏

  22. South Africa will be the biggest loser’s if other Africa n countries boycott their investment, which are plenty.

  23. The root of the problem is not the people, its the politicians and the big corporations. People really need to stop the mindless and aimless bullshit, get organized and focus all that frustration and anger in the right direction.

  24. Take that same energy hold your government accountable for poor services and corruption. Stop running to sa we can’t have the entire continent here. Some need to stay back . Make your country a better place for the next generations.
