S. Africa: soldiers deployed to counter surge in violence
Hundreds of South African soldiers were deployed on Thursday to crime-ridden suburbs of Cape Town to counter a surge of shootings, gang violence and murders.
According to the Western Cape Government, bloodshed has claimed more than 2,000 victims in predominantly black and mixed-race areas over the past seven months.
The South African National Defence Force are to be on the streets for at least three months to boost the city’s struggling police force

An announcement should be made in these areas that inform all men from age 18 to 40 years of age must report to a specific location to obtain a special identification card to reside in these areas. During the registration process, all men should be questioned about where they live, who is committing crimes, etc. Once the ID’s are issued, then the military can request to see them randomly. If they don’t possess the ID’s, then they will be arrested and detained for 3 years. This will bring order back to these communities.
