Burkina Faso President Finally Resigns After Days Of Violent Protests

In what is expected to send chills down the spine of most black African leaders fighting to extend their terms in office, one of Africa’s longest serving presidents Blaise Compaore of Burkina Faso has been forced to resign from office following days of protests. Compaore who took over power through a bloody coup in 1987 that resulted in the death of his predecessor Captain Thomas Sankara is said to have gone into exile in neighbouring Ghana after attempts to amend the constitution to extend his 27-year-old rule sparked off violent protests.
