Aline works up to eighteen hours a day to keep her four children in school. “Its a good feeling when you make enough money to educate the children.” She is part of a women’s group, who learn skills and exchange ideas. It is just one of several new grassroots initiatives driving development in Burkino Faso. Charity workers are overwhelmed by the nation’s self-starting attitude: “I’ve seen the very poor conditions; it is remarkable they are able to take up a vision of the future”.
