BBC News – Exclusive look inside Sierra Leone prison
Rights campaigners in Sierra Leone say the country’s justice system is fraught with many challenges – and are asking the new government for reforms. The country’s truth and reconciliation commission cited injustice as one of the causes of the brutal war in the 1990s. Since that war ended 16 years ago, the country still struggles to set up courts across the country: this has had serious consequences on prisons which are grossly overcrowded. Recently shocking images secretly taken inside the main prisons in the south drew outrage from the public. The BBC has been granted exclusive access inside the Bo prison, from where Umaru Fofana sent us this report. // BBC Copyright //
