Another Win for the Oceans in The Gambia

Sea Shepherd just completed a successful campaign in The Gambia, West Africa. Working in partnership with Gambian authorities from the Navy and the Department of Fisheries, our patrols have resulted in the arrest of ten illegal fishing vessels, many caught fishing inside the zone reserved for local, artisanal fishing.

“This campaign ranges from the mangrove beds of the rivers of The Gambia all the way out to the open seas,” says Captain Alistair Allan of the M/Y Sam Simon. “If you’re fishing illegally in The Gambia, there’s nowhere to hide.”
